Our mission here at the Geriatric Psychiatry Research Division is to identify age-related cognitive changes associated with pharmacological therapy, Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, and brain aging. We are located at the Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg New York.
¨ We provide free, comprehensive memory evaluations to members of our community. We communicate the results of these evaluations to the participants and their personal physicians.
¨ We participate in world-wide clinical research trials with a number of pharmaceutical companies. We alert community health professionals about ongoing clinical studies of treatments for memory disorders as well as interested members of the community, which the trials might benefit.
¨ We also participate in the study of advanced neuroimaging techniques. We work with the Division of Medical Physics to develop advanced neuroimaging techniques for the early detection of memory disorders as well as to improve the sensitivity of clinical trials to new therapies.
¨ We strive to bring advances in basic research in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders to clinical research.
¨ We also serve as an educational resource regarding memory disorders for the patients and clinicians of Rockland County.
